Hideki Tsuji

Hideki joined Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), Government of Japan in 1997, engaged in Kyoto Protocol negotiations (COP3), innovation promotion policy, and energy policy. After serving as COO of an internet software startup, successfully acquired by one of the largest Japanese technology companies, Hideki joined University of Tokyo Edge Capital (UTEC), a VC firm associated with University of Tokyo in 2006 and was jointly responsible for UTEC 2 VC Fund. Over about 17 years, Hideki invested in deep tech startups from co-foundations to exits as board members. Hideki co-founded ONE Innovators in 2023.

Shu Shimada, PhD, MBA

Shu joined Dai Nippon Printing in 2004, focusing on semiconductor materials research and development, and spearheaded new digital business initiatives in the management planning department. Shu became CTO/COO of a fuel cell startup in 2012 and led the company to an exit in 2019. Following that, Shu launched a CVC team at JX Metal, promoting collaborations with startups emerging from domestic and international universities. Shu co-founded ONE Innovators in 2023.

Takayuki Shimizu

Takayuki joined Sanwa Bank (now MUFJ Bank) in 1986, where he engaged in corporate sales, government bond trading, and worked in the planning department of a think tank. In January 1996, he was seconded to Sanwa Capital (now Mitsubishi UFJ Capital), where he played a pivotal role in launching the firm's first venture fund. Over the following 28 years, he primarily focused on investments in the deep tech sector, adopting a lead hands-on investment style. Takayuki also managed limited partnership investments in major university-affiliated venture capitals as the academia liaison. Despite holding a senior executive position, he remained a frontline playing manager. Takayuki joined ONE Innovators in July 2024.

Teruyoshi Murakami, PhD

Teru joined Accenture in 2003 as a strategy consultant and engaged in formulating business and R&D strategies. In 2007, Teru joined the University of Tokyo Edge Capital (UTEC) and played a lead, hands-on investment role in co-founding and growth of deep tech startups. In 2011, Teru transferred to a solar energy startup as Executive Director of Strategic Planning which he co-founded. Teru joined Nikkiso Co., Ltd., in 2013 and started driving global venture investments and M&A activities. In California, Teru led PMI initiatives and launched a new hydrogen business at acquired subsidiaries engaging in liquid gas-related equipment business. After returning to Japan, Teru served as Deputy Head of Industrial Division and operated its business for 2 years. Teru joined ONE Innovators in January 2025.
